Book of Mormon announces June 2020 dates

Smash hit musical The Book of Mormon has announced summer 2020 dates for Edinburgh, playing the Playhouse for a long fortnight from Wednesday 17 June to Saturday 4 July.

Tickets for the show will go sale from this Wednesday, 13 Nov 2019, at 10am here. Prior to arriving in Edinburgh, the show is taking its mission to Aberdeen’s His Majesty’s Theatre, in May, with tickets also on sale from Wednesday.

The musical follows a pair of Mormon boys sent on a mission to the inhabitants of a remote Ugandan village, a long way from their home in Salt Lake City. The earnest young men are challenged by the lack of interest from the locals, who are distracted by rather more pressing issues…

It is written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone with Robert Lopez who co-created the Broadway musical Avenue Q and co-wrote the songs for Disney’s Frozen and Coco.

Since making its world premiere in March 2011 at New York’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre, where it won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, The Book of Mormon has been performed on three continents and won over thirty international awards.

The musical has smashed long-standing box office records in New York, London, Melbourne, Sydney and cities across the U.S.

The London production opened in February 2013, winning four Oliviers including Best New Musical, and breaking the record for the highest single day of sales in West End history. It has sold out every one of its 2797 performances to date at the Prince of Wales Theatre.
