Comic Turns up at Playhouse

Tix on sale for Manford, Dolls, Kay and Ramseys.

Tickets have gone on general sale today, Friday 28 February 2020, for four new comedy dates at the Edinburgh Playhouse, with further dates in Glasgow.

This summer, phenomenally successful junior doctor-turned comedian Adam Kay returns for two nights during #EdFringe 2020. Next year, Jason Manford has booked in for a single night of his 99-date 2021 UK tour.

In September, married Geordie duo, the Ramseys, will be performing their Shagged, Married, Annoyed Podcast live, for one night only, and comic duo The Dolls will be schlepping over from Glasgow to bring their saucy style of variety right into the 2020s the following evening.

The Dolls A Rerr Terr

Adam Kay started off as a junior doctor, during which time he kept diaries of his 97 hour weeks, the life and death decisions, the constant tsunami of bodily fluids, and the realisation that the hospital parking meter earns more than you.

This is Going to Hurt provides a no-holds-barred account of his time on the NHS front line, with everything you wanted to know – and more than a few things you didn’t – about life on and off the hospital ward.

The accompanying book, This is Going to Hurt, will be available to purchase and for signature after the performances on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 August.

hit podcast

Comics and married couple Chris and Rosie Ramsey are taking their hit podcast Shagged Married Annoyed on tour this September, arriving in Edinburgh on Thursday 17 September.

The podcast launched a year ago and since then has amassed over 18 million downloads. The show frequently tops the podcast charts and due to its success the duo are taking the show on the road to discuss life, relationships, annoyances, parenting and everything in between in front of a live audience.

The Dolls, that’s River City’s Gayle Telfer Stevens as Agnes and Scott Squad’s Louise McCarthy as Sadie, are back in their overalls and pulling off a new style of 21st century variety show – plenty of singers, male dancers, magicians and maybe even a drag artiste or two – in A Rerr Terr, clocking in to the Playhouse for one night only on Friday 18 September, but spending a whole week at the Glasgow King’s from Tuesday 29.

Next year is surely the year of the Hedgehog as Jason Manford goes out on a 99 date tour. Given his successful roles as Professor Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Leo Bloom in The Producers, there was little surprise at his Masked Singer success, but now he is getting back on a comedy tip and exercising the chuckle muscle.
