Killer drag
Christie pastiche Death Drop for King’s
Death Drop, the “Dragatha Christie” murder mystery pastiche written by and starring drag queen Holly Stars has been announced for five shows only at the Edinburgh King’s in November 2021.
Holly Stars is joined by Drag Race UK star Vinegar Strokes, who reprises her originating West End role of Lady Von Fistenburg, together with Ru-Paul USA drag legends Willam and Ra’Jah O’Hara and, from Drag Race Down Under, Karen From Finance.
Death Drop adds drag iconography and sizzling one-liners to the classic Christie format as a gaggle of guests arrive on Tuck Island by invitation of Lady Von Fistenburg. The time is 1991, and the queens are all there to celebrate the tenth wedding anniversary of Charles and Diana.
Tension rise as the outrageous guests reveal their suspicious and sordid pasts. And, one by one, they sashay away to their various dooms, until at the last, nerve-shredding moment the surviving guests get to find out who-dunnit.
spectacular drag musical murder mystery
Willam who plays guest Aussie pop singer Shazza says: “I had so much fun in the West End, I’m now excited to be touring the UK in Death Drop, a spectacular drag musical murder mystery. No spoilers please (I DID IT).”
Vinegar Strokes who is “channelling Diahann Carroll in Dynasty” in her role of Von Fistenburg according to The Stage, adds: “Absolutely thrilled to be back on Tuck Island and touring the UK in this killer production. Whoever wants to buy me a drink, make it a double Redrum.”
Holly Stars, who has written a trio of cheesy, show-stealing roles for herself, says: “I’m so excited that Death Drop is going on tour with this all-star cast! The show was such a hit in London, I can’t wait to show the rest of the UK why Death Drop was such a killer suc-cess.”
Death Drop will play the King’s from Wednesday 17 to Saturday 20 November 2021, with two performances on the Saturday.
