Christmas Eve shows cancelled due to expected weather

By Thom Dibdin

Edinburgh’s Christmas has decided to cancel both performances of Little Red Riding Hood in the St Andrew Square Paradiso Spiegel Tent on Tuesday, 24 December, due to the expected high winds.

According to a statement from Edinburgh’s Christmas: “Due to the weather conditions forecast for tomorrow, the decision has been made to cancel both the 11.30am and 1.30pm performances of Little Red Riding Hood on Tuesday 24 December.

“We will endeavour to contact those who have bought tickets via email this evening. Apologies for any inconvenience to all.

“Ticket holders will be entitled to an exchange to another performance or a full refund. Please contact the box office in person, by phone on 0844 545 8252 (open 10am – 8pm) or by email on feedback@edinburghschristmas.com.”

The show is closed on Wednesday, Christmas Day, but is expected to open again as scheduled on Thursday, Boxing Day, and plays daily (not Ne’er Day, Wednesday  1 Januay) at 11.30am and 1.30pm, until Sunday 5 January.

The expected weather has also forced Santa’s Grotto to move from Lower East Princes Street Gardens to the Children’s Market in St Andrew Square for the duration of Tuesday 24 December. According to Edinburgh’s Christmas: “Children will still get the chance to meet Santa, will receive a free hot chocolate and are invited to return another day to visit the Christmas Tree Maze free of charge.”

Anyone effected by this, but still wanting a Christmas show for the kids, there are still tickets available for The Edibles, at the Storytelling Centre on the High Street at 11am and 2pm.
