FCT to stage 45th Anniversary Gala

Forth Children’s Theatre is turning 45 this year and to set the celebrations off will be holding a Gala Concert at the Church Hill Theatre on Thurs 4 to Sat 6 April, 2024.

The company is now on the hunt for past members of the company to join the cast who will bring the revue-style concert to life, featuring some of the highlights of shows from FCT’s history. Participation will be by audition, open to FCT members “from the past, present and future of the company”.

FCT was founded by Peter Gorman in 1979, “to encourage further interest and active participation in theatre and drama among young people”. It’s first production was Monsieur De La Plume – fragments from the life of Robert Louis Stevenson, with a book by Therese Kitchin, which played the 1979 Fringe.

The 45th Anniversary Gala will feature musical numbers from FCT’s repertoire, such as Thoroughly Modern Millie, Hairspray, Annie and 13 – and many more to celebrate the company’s history.

Anyone who has been in FCT in the past, is currently in the company, or is of an eligible age to join the company – aged between 10 and 18 years old on April 4 – is invited to audition.

Auditions will take place on Sunday 21 or Sunday 28 January at Madelvic house. Auditionees should prepare one song of their choosing, which can be a cut version or full length. Choreography will be taught on the day, so auditionees should wear appropriate clothing.

Anyone eligible to audition who can’t make either date can send in a self tape. See register form and contact email below for further details.
