Hot from winning a major award at the Stockholm Fringe Festival, Edinburgh’s Creative Electric theatre company are looking for new young performers to join up.

The company is open to young people aged between 16 and 22 who are interested in creating theatre and contemporary performance. No experience is necessary just lots of enthusiasm and a willingness to try out new ideas. They specialise predominantly in contemporary performance, devised and verbatim theatre, although they have been known to play with scripts occasionally.

Creative Electric have just returned from Stoff festival in Stockholm where they won the Audience Choice Award for best show for their production Auditory Hallucinations.

The production featured three emerging performers who performed to an audience of just 15 people per performance. Audiences were given headphones to immerse them in a world of memories. The Æ review of the show is here.

The company are now looking to create a larger scale production to be performed in late 2013. Ideas for the piece will be taken from young company members after a series of taster workshops where participants can explore various themes and styles of theatre.

The first workshop takes place at The Bongo Club (66 Cowgate, Edinburgh, EH1 1JX) on Wednesday 11th September. Workshops will take place weekly on Wednesdays, 7-9pm. Cost is £5 a week with bursaries available.
