Lawson remains off-beat
Rebus continues with McKinven in title role
A spokesperson for Rebus: Long Shadows, has confirmed that Charles Lawson will not be returning to the role of John Rebus for either of the performances today, Wednesday 10 October 2018.
As previously reported, the Coronation Street star fell ill during Monday’s Scottish premiere of the show, with understudy Neil McKinven completing the performance in the role of Rebus, with script in hand.
Neil McKinven also took over the role of Rebus on Tuesday evening and will now continue in the role in Wednesday’s matinee and evening performances. His own parts are being played by Andy Paterson.
The company is not able to say when Charles Lawson will be able to return to the production but that he will be “back on stage as soon as possible”.
The Birmingham Rep production continues at the King’s theatre all week to Saturday. It is on an eight venue tour, scheduled up until November 24.
Rebus: Long Shadows is scripted by Rona Munro from a new story written specially for the production by Ian Rankin, continuing his long-running series of books about Edinburgh detective John Rebus.
