LCT in hunt for panto director
Director sought to helm Leitherella follow-up
By Thom Dibdin
Leith Community Theatre is looking for a volunteer director for its 2013 pantomime, which is scheduled to run 12 to 19 December.
The not-for-profit community theatre group is skipping a production for the Leith Festival this year in order to concentrate on the pantomime, which will be the company’s fourth following 2012’s Leitherella.
LCT chair Des Linton told the Annals: “We are guided by our principals of inclusion, community and diversity with a healthy emphasis on fun. We have an active management committee and over 65 members across a spectrum of ages and experience, taking on roles both on and off-stage with bags of enthusiasm!
“We seek a Director with a proven track record in theatre, who is experienced in working with voluntary groups and with those with a range of experience. We need someone enthusiastic, friendly and who shares our passion for community productions that are professional in their values, ambition and execution.”
A script for the show will be decided once the director has been appointed. It will run 12-19 December at “a 180 capacity venue in Leith”, according to Linton. The rehearsal schedule will be two evenings a week from August – depending on the production and requirements of the director – with increased rehearsal time closer to the production date.
Anyone wishing to apply for this voluntary post should email leithcommunitytheatre at yahoo.com to request an application form and further information. Completed application forms and covering letters need to be submitted by 8 April 2013 at 12 noon.
This is a voluntary position in a non-paying production.
