Annual auditions to join LYAMC

Open auditions for the Lothian Youth Arts and Musicals Company have been announced for Sunday 10 January 2016.

Founded in 1998 the main objective of LYAMC is to make musical theatre fun for 120 youngsters, aged 8 to 25, every year.

LYAMC AuditionsAccording to the LYAMC: “We seek to develop, educate and encourage young people in various aspects of the performing arts. The company has developed into a high profile organisation that consistently achieves excellent production standards.”

Among its other activities, the company stages a musical every autumn at the Church Hill Theatre. It’s 2015 production was Honk! and this year’s production has yet to be announced.

The auditions will take place on Sunday 10 January at St Kentigern’s Church, Parkgrove Avenue, starting with registration at 1pm and continuing until between 3.30 and 5pm.

Auditions are open to boys and girls aged between eight and 25 on February 1, 2016.

The auditionees will be taught and song and a dance during a short workshop session, so there is no need to prepare anything in advance. The dance will then be performed in small groups. Auditionees will then be called in small groups or individually to sing in front of the production team audition panel.

Decisions will be made following all auditions and everyone will be notified by email if they have successfully gained a place in LYAMC.

LYAMC warn that there is no space for parents to wait at the auditions, but that they will contact parents when their children are finished.

Auditionees should take water and be dressed in comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for the dance workshop.
