ESO pick up the Magic Flute

Edinburgh Studio Opera are staging a new production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Lauriston Halls this week, from Tuesday 24 February 2015.

Setting the production in Ancient Persia, the director is Lloyd Llewellyn-Jones. The company promise a vibrant and colourful re-imagining of a classic, in which they will inject the splendour of Mozart’s Vienna with Eastern mystique.

ESO Magic Flute PosterCropThe production, with musical direction from William Conway with assistance from Peter Keenan, will get four stagings: on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Performances start at 7.30pm.

The company have been very much on tune in recent years, with excellent productions of the Okavango Macbeth at the Fringe 2014, and King Arthur in 2013 getting very strong notices from Æ.
