Scott Reid gets Curious
Still Game’s Reid for Curious Incident
Scott Reid, who recently joined Still Game as Methadone Mick, has been cast as Christopher Boone in The National Theatre’s touring production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, returning to the Festival Theatre in February.
Reid excelled in the five star A Play, A Pie and A Pint production of A Perfect Stroke in 2014, playing budding drama student Thomas, who stayed behind for extra tuition from Anita Vettesse’s drama teacher, Ms Stone.
The NT production of Curious Incident previously toured to the Festival Theatre in April last year, gaining five star reviews. Adapted from Mark Haddon’s best-selling book by Simon Stephens, it tells of 15 year-old Christopher Boone who is first seen standing beside Mrs Shears’ dead dog, Wellington.
It is seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in a book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. Exceptional at maths but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life, he has never having ventured alone beyond the end of his road. He detests being touched and distrusts strangers but his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.
Paisley-born Reid will be joined by Lucianne McEvoy, who is currently playing Bea in Jumpy at the Lyceum (★★★☆☆ Genuine) as his teacher Siobhan. Emma Beattie will play his mother Judy and David Michaels his father Ed. It also features Debra Michaels as Mrs Alexander and Eliza Collings as Mrs Shears.
