Smith to reprise Funny Girl role in UK tour

First staged on Broadway in 1964, it brought brought global fame to Barbra Streisand as Fanny, who reprised the role for the London production in 1966 and again for the 1968 movie.
With music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Bob Merrill, it boasts some of the most iconic songs in film and theatre history, including People and Don’t Rain On My Parade, which became two of Streisand’s signature tunes.
The Chocolate Factory revival is directed by Michael Mayer and choreographed by Lynne Page. It will tour extensively in 2017 until July, with Sheridan Smith billed to appear in Manchester, Milton Keynes, Liverpool, Bristol, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle, Southampton, Bradford, Southend, Cardiff and Dublin.
