David Lyle and Alan Borthwick awarded BEMs by King
Alan Borthwick and David Lyle, the Long-time Artistic and Musical Directors of the Edinburgh Gilbert and Sullivan Society, have been awarded the British Empire Medal “for services to music” in the King’s Birthday Honours 2025.

What’s on Edinburgh’s stages this week
After the full-on frenzy of last week, things have quietened down slightly on Edinburgh’s stages, but only slightly, with a spot of G&S and pack of smaller but still excellent productions which are well worth taking in.
King’s, Festival & Studio dark
Capital Theatres “cancels or postpones” all March & April shows
Capital Theatres, which runs the King’s, the Festival and the Studio theatres, has announced that it is cancelling or postponing all performances at the three venues in March and April 2020.
SCDA One Acts cancelled
Finals and Eastern Division round cancelled but EPT take precautions:
The Scottish finals and the Eastern Division round of the SCDA One Act Festival have been cancelled as the Byre Theatre is cancelling all public events until Sunday May 31 2020.
