Driesen to play Frankie Valli at Playhouse

Tim Driesen has been announced as lead in the first UK tour of Jersey Boys, which plays the Edinburgh Playhouse in October for a two and a half-week run.

The Belgian actor is currently playing the role of Frankie Valli in the Dutch production of the show, which charts the rise to fame of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. He took a break to play the part for a short season earlier this year at the Prince Edward Theatre in the West End.

Driesen has played Joey Primo in Rock of Ages in the West End but is more noted for his creation of the role of Adrian Banks (the character based on Mark Owen) in the Take That musical, Never Forget – both on tour and in the West End.

Crammed with Four Seasons hits, the Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award-winning show tells the story of the band’s rise to stardom from the wrong side of the tracks. By the time they turned 30, the four boys from New Jersey had become one of the most successful bands in pop history, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and had sold 175 million records worldwide.

The show opens in Manchester in September and is staged by the team who created the original Broadway hit. The show now has confirmed bookings through to March 2015 when it visits Aberdeen, and is expected to tour at least until October 2015.
