The Wizard of Oz

Based, as ever, on the story by L. Frank Baum, this is Jeremy Sams and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s version of the musical which opened in the West End in 2011 after the reality show Over the Rainbow.

Lloyd Webber reunited with Tim Rice to add a couple of extra songs to the well known numbers from the iconic original score from the Oscar-winning MGM film that includes ‘Over The Rainbow’, ‘Follow The Yellow Brick Road‘ and ‘We’re Off To See The Wizard’.

carnivalesque trip

Directed by the Curve’s Nikolai Foster, the Guardian described the 2022 production as a “carnivalesque trip down the Yellow Brick Road”. Choreography is by Shay Barclay, set design by Colin Richmond, projection designer by Douglas O’Connell and costume and puppet design by Rachael Canning. The lighting is by Ben Cracknell

Casting for the UK tour has yet to be announced. However Jason Manford and Ashley Banjo have announced for the London Palladium season, with Banjo appearing as the Tin Man and Manford as the Cowardly Lion.

Producer Michael Harrison said: “Nikolai Foster and his team have created a new and magical production of this beloved musical, and we can’t wait to take the show to audiences all around the country.”
