Ellis is Alice for Playhouse

Kerry Ellis will guest star as Alice when the UK tour of Wonderland opens at the Edinburgh Playhouse in January 2017.

Coronation Street’s Wendi Peters has been cast as the Queen of Hearts with Dave Willetts co-starring as the White Rabbit in the musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass.

Wendi Peters will play Queen of Hearts in the 2017 tour of Wonderland.

The musical, which has a score from Frank Wildhorn , lyrics by Jack Murphy and book by Murphy with Gregory Boyd gets a UK adaptation by Ava Eldred for its 28 date tour.

Ellis, who is best known for playing Elphaba in the West End and Broadway productions of Wicked, will guest star as Alice in a dozen venues around her concert commitments.

Completing the principal cast are Stephen Webb as Jack/White Knight, Natalie McQueen as Mad Hatter, Kayi Ushe as Caterpillar, Dominic Owen as Cheshire Cat, Ben Kerr as March Hare and Carolyn Maitland as Alternate Alice / Mad Hatter.

** Rachel Wooding will guest star as Alice in these venues.

The role of Alice for all other venues is yet to be announced.
