Rebus: Long Shadows
★★★☆☆ Overshadowed:
Despite boasting the talents of two of Scotland’s greatest writers and a more than adequate cast, Rebus: Long Shadows, at the King’s until Saturday, is nowhere near as compelling as the stage debut of Edinburgh’s most celebrated fictional policeman should be.

New show for Leith Theatre
First professional theatre show for 30 years:
Leith Theatre is to re-open on Armistice Day with its first professional theatre production for 30 years with The Last Days of Mankind, an epic anti-war satire by Viennese writer Karl Kraus with songs by The Tiger Lillies.
Madagascar The Musical
★★☆☆☆ Lackluster:
Madagascar may have been a hugely popular animated movie, but unfortunately, the musical adaptation fails to hit the right notes as it tours to the Playhouse this week.
Silent Light for Edinburgh’s Xmas
Silent Disco gets the Xmas Lights treatment:
Full details of Edinburgh’s Christmas have been released, including a massive silent disco with light show on George Street, with all tickets due to go on sale at 10am Wednesday 3 October.
Rain Man
★★☆☆☆ Clunky:
There are probably enough fans of the original movie to sustain The Classic Screen to Stage Company’s touring version of Rain Man, at the King’s until Saturday. However, as a piece of theatre it never makes a successful case for itself.
