By Thom Dibdin

Craigmount High are performing their Hit the Stage production of modern and classic pop hits as a tribute to former depute Head Teacher Beth McDonald, who died suddenly of cancer in July last year.

The show plays all week at the Church Hill Theatre. It features 130 pupils from the west Edinburgh secondary school performing hits from the likes of Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Adele, ABBA and the Motown catalogue, and will use of state of the art technology to enhance the experience.

The concert is the latest in a series of fund-raising events to commemorate Mrs McDonald who Head Teacher Dr John Campbell described as: “a lively and vivacious sort of person.” After 17 years as depute at Craigmount, she had been expected to retire this year.

All proceeds from the concert this week will go to Cancer Research UK. Tickets for Mon-Weds performances should still be available at the theatre box office before the show or from the school on 0131 339 6823. Thurs-Sat performances have now sold out.
