Bedknobs & Broomsticks for Fest Theatre
World Premiere adaptation tours to Edinburgh in 2022
The new musical production of Bedknobs and Broomsticks is set to tour to Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre in 2022, after visiting Glasgow’s King’s in November this year.
Based on the 1971 Walt Disney film and the stories by Mary Norton, the new adaptation is directed by Glasgow’s Candice Edmunds and Jamie Harrison, co-artistic directors of Vox Motus, with lighting from Edinburgh-based Simon Wilkinson.
The musical features Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman’s original songs from the film, with new songs and additional music and lyrics by Neil Bartram and book by Brian Hill.
When the three orphaned Rawlins children are reluctantly evacuated from wartime London to live with the mysterious Eglantine Price, they have no idea what adventures lie ahead.
Upon discovering Eglantine to be a trainee witch, they join forces to search for a secret spell that will defeat the enemy once and for all.
