Fringe society withdraws support
The Edinburgh Fringe has been pulled for 2020, with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society announcing that it is withdrawing its services overseeing the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The cancelation of EdFringe 2020 comes following advice from both the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government and in consultation with Edinburgh’s main producers and venues.
The Edinburgh Fringe is an open access festival, with the Fringe Society having no control over who decides to appear. It is only responsible for coordinating the programme and providing a ticketing platform for participants, so it is not able to actually “cancel” EdFringe itself.
