Listings for week Sunday 17 – Sunday 24 January 2016:

Edinburgh’s theatre year doesn’t really begin until the first Lyceum production opens and the Traverse presents its annual Class Act evenings of new writing from its schools project.

Welcome, then, to 2016 with the opening of The Weir at the Lyceum and Class Act at the Trav. Very much looking forward to what Amanda Gaughan makes of Conor McPherson’s  script – and the school’s project is always worth a look for the invention of the writing.

Up at the Bedlam the EUTC is staging its annual Bedfest. There’s a half dozen productions on as well as 14 different workshops over five days. Æ is very happy to be taking part in the Reading Reviews workshop on Friday 22 – do come and throw things!

The Festival Theatre is the place to be for dance this week. BalletLORENT bring their Snow White over the weekend, and there is major burst of young dance on Tuesday, with Dancefest (previewed here), which should be utterly splendid.

As always, click on the name of the show to go to its ticketing site.
