Edinburgh MagicFest pops up in Trav

There’s more than a whiff of magic about the Traverse this week as Edinburgh’s MagicFest pops up in a new home following the success of last year’s Christmas special.

As the joys of Christmas turn into anticipation for the new year MagicFest returns for a second go with The Secret Gift, being staged for eight performances over four days in Traverse One.

Featuring stars of magic from around the UK and special guest performers from Spain, the two-hour show is “packed with suspense, excitement, surprise and guessing,” according to MagicFest and will leave “a smile (and look of confusion) on everyone’s face”.

MagicFest founder and artistic director Kevin Quantum will deliver the mixture of magic and science which has made him an EdFringe favourite – this year with Anti Gravity.

He will be joined by grand illusionist Chris de Rosa, whimsical mind-reader Professor Kelso and Spanish performers David Blanco – a master of misdirection – and the legendary ‘Bubble Poet’ Señor Pérez, who will bring the show to a spectacular finish with a flurry of bubbles.

Kevin Quantum said: “I am thrilled that the show will take place at one of my favourite Edinburgh theatres – the Traverse.

“Edinburgh is really lucky to be the only city in the UK to have a magic festival at Christmas. Our festive show extends that magical feeling of Christmas Day for a few extra days. Why should magic finish on 25th December?”
