Casting for three digital productions

Leading Edinburgh amateur company Edinburgh Graduate Theatre Group has put out a casting call for three digital productions as part of the 2021 Edinburgh Fringe 2021.

Auditions for the productions will take place the week beginning Monday 5 July. Due to the different techniques to be used in the three plays, auditions for each will take place separately.

All three productions will be pre-recorded – either online or in-person on location – and presented on the Fringe Society’s online streaming platform in August.

The plays are Guilty Animals by Dug Campbell, which will be directed by Jenny Tamplin, The Report written and directed by Martin Foreman and Ripe for Improvement, written and directed by Hilary Spiers.

Guilty Animals by Dug Campbell
Directed by Jenny Tamplin
Characters: 2 M / 2 F + a Voice (ANY)
Auditions: 7:30pm – 9:30pm, Thursday 8 July via Zoom.
Structure: Filming to be done virtually via Zoom, FaceTime and other.
As a firefighter attempts to outrun his traumatic experiences by making changes to his life, he inadvertently shatters the lives of those around him.

The Report written and directed by Martin Foreman
Characters: 3 ANY, 35 – 65
Auditions: 7:30pm – 9:30pm, Tuesday 6 July via Zoom.
Structure: Recorded on Zoom.
A dreadful incident has taken place. More than dreadful. Appalling. Heart breaking. And someone needs to accept responsibility for it.
The stage version of The Report won the Pitlochry Festival Theatre Short Play Award in 2018.

Ripe for Improvement written and directed by Hilary Spiers
Characters: 2 M / 2 F
Auditions: Monday 5 July (in -person or on Zoom by arrangement)
Structure: Filming will be done in-person on location.
A couple look to buy a house from a vendor who delights in baiting and wrong-footing potential purchasers. Just what will they have to do in order to secure the sale?
